Media Server functionality is critical in any next-generation architecture, providing switching, voice over packet capabilities and serving as the key transitional element between legacy circuit-switched and packet networks. Media servers are the primary hardware in a packet design, setting the foundation for voice quality, reliability, scalability and performance.
RealEast® Media Server RMS100 is equipped with a huge DSP processing power, which enables it to perform not only as a simple VoIP Gateway making straightforward ISDN to RTP coding, but incorporate all the voice features to run call center, IVR, FAX or switching on a single chassis.
The architecture of the RMS100 series integrates PSTN interfaces, telephony protocols, comprehensive IVR functionality, full-duplex echo cancellation, speech encoding, fax processing, a Fast Ethernet interface, and packet protocols into a single-slot package.
Besides its revolutionary voice transport capabilities, RMS100 can host call control, signaling, applications and other RealEast(R) modules. By supporting this functionality on the chassis, the need for additional computing platforms is reduced and performance is increased by an order of magnitude over alternative packet voice architectures.
The RMS100 is a carrier-grade platform targeted at in-the-network deployments where scalability and reliability are the absolute requirements. RMS100 features a powerful media streaming facility including T1/E1, RTP/IP, UDP/IP-T.38 fax, and host-based functions such as play/record.
The system has a number of extended capabilities, such as:
Simultaneous support of SIP and H323 protocols for VoIP networks
Simultaneous support of ISDN and SS7 (ISUP) for PSTN networks
19" PCI or compact PCI chassis
Support of hot-swap feature for compact PCI- configurations
System management over web-interface
SNMP support for statistics and trap sending
Automatic software re-start facilities when failure
Flexible and seamless integration with other RealEast Networks products, such as RealEast Softswitch RSF1000, RealEast IP-Office and RealEast CCP
Competitive benefits for a Service Provider
Flexible configuration (from 0 up to 16 E1/T1 per single cPCI slot)
Multi protocol support: SIP/H323/T.38/ISDN/ISUP
All major vocoders supported: g.711, g.723.1, g.726, g.729 a/b
Low-latency media streaming
Multiple applications: VoIP Gateway, Voice Processing, ISDN/ISUP converter/switch
Typical Applications
RMS100 has a number of applications for telecom business. The most popular of them are:
Classic VoIP/PSTN gateway (SIP/H323/ISDN/ISUP)
RMS100 can be configured for the operation as classic VoIP/PSTN gateway providing connectivity of PSTN trunks to the packet based network. Both ISDN and ISUP (SS7) protocols are supported simultaneously.

ISDN/ISUP signaling converter/switch
RMS100 can operate as a signaling converter/switch with advanced capabilities such as: authentication, routing management and number translation. ISDN-ISUP protocol translation is also supported.

RMS100 - Integral Part of RealEast Networks Solutions
RMS100, being one of the core products of RealEast software product suite, can operate as integral part for other higher-level telecom solutions. That means that provider can use it as a building block for any revenue generating applications, such as:
RealEast IP-Office/Virtual Office - powerful IP-Centrex/Hosted-PBX system (see www.ip-office.com)
RealEast CCP solution - calling card platform with a set of advanced features
In these solutions RMS100 provides media processing functions, such as RTP trans-coding, DTMF handling, IVR, conferencing and more.
